DEWA meter installation requires a dedicated meter room or panel that meets DEWA's technical specifications. The meter room must be: weatherproof, ventilated, accessible 24/7, properly earthed, and located at the building boundary or approved location.
Smart meters are now standard for all new DEWA installations. These enable remote reading, real-time consumption monitoring, and automatic disconnection/reconnection. Smart meters are installed at no additional cost.
For villa communities with shared meter rooms, coordination with community management may be required for meter room access and space allocation.
Temporary meters for construction sites require a separate application and deposit (AED 2,000–5,000, refundable upon meter removal and account closure).
